The Process Server is at the same time a liberal professional, a jurist and a court officer.

With almost 2,200 Offices spread over all the territory; representing 3,300 Court Officers assisted by approximately 12,000 assistants, the Process Servers form the legal profession that is the closest to everyone, available to all and at all times.

An entirely independent liberal professional: his numerous skills in judicial, legal and economic matters together with his mobility and proximity make him a much sought after partner for private individuals, business people, artisans, companies and government services, notably the direct and indirect tax authorities.

Traditionally, the Process Server has three classical functions, each of which is known to all :

  • Notification of judicial and extra-judicial deeds
  • Enforcement of writs of execution
  • Certified reports

The Process Server is a responsible professional, held to professional secrecy. The deeds he issues are priced by decree. The Process Server is responsible for the faults he commits towards his clients. He is covered by a compulsory insurance and is under the control of the Public Prosecutor.

In his capacity as Court Officer, he occupies a specific place in the French judicial system and, in this respect finds himself attributed with the monopoly of certain deeds, and notably, the notification and enforcement of decisions passed by the Courts and Tribunals.

With the exception of specific cases, the Process Server is remunerated according to a tariff that is fixed by decree.
